Suffering Before Glory
Scripture: “Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?” — Luke 24:26
On the road to Emmaus, the disciples were confused and discouraged. They believed Jesus was the Messiah—but they could not reconcile their expectations with the cross. In response, Jesus gently reminded them that suffering was not a mistake—it was the plan.
“Ought not Christ to have suffered?” The cross was not a detour. It was divine design. Before glory came agony. Before resurrection came crucifixion.
Easter assures us that suffering is often the pathway to triumph. God does not waste pain. The wounds of Christ became the means of redemption for the world. Likewise, our trials refine us, strengthen our faith, and deepen our dependence on Him.
We may not always understand the “why” of our suffering, but we can trust the Who. The empty tomb proves that God’s purposes prevail.
Reflection Questions:
How might God be using your present trial to prepare you for future glory?
Can you trust His plan even when you cannot see the outcome?
Prayer:
Father, help me endure suffering with faith, believing that You are working all things for Your glory and my good.
