Born Again to a Living Hope
Scripture: “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” — 1 Peter 1:3
Peter wrote these words to believers who were facing trials and persecution. Their faith was being tested. Their circumstances were unstable. Yet Peter did not point them to easier days—he pointed them to an empty tomb.
Because Jesus rose from the dead, we are “begotten again” into a living hope. Not a weak wish. Not a fading optimism. A living hope. It breathes because Christ breathes. It stands because Christ stands victorious.
The resurrection means that new birth is possible. We are not trapped in who we used to be. We are not defined by our failures. We are not doomed to repeat yesterday’s mistakes. Through Christ’s victory, we are given new spiritual life.
This hope does not eliminate suffering—but it transforms it. Trials may test us, but they cannot terminate the life God has placed within us. Our hope is anchored beyond the grave.
Reflection Questions:
Is your hope based on favorable circumstances or on the risen Christ?
How does knowing Jesus lives change how you face today’s challenges?
Prayer:
Father, thank You that my hope is alive because Jesus is alive. Help me live boldly in the confidence of His resurrection.
