The Promise of a New Dawn

Scripture:
“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” — Psalm 30:5

The story of Easter begins in deep darkness. Friday was filled with betrayal, brutality, and broken hearts. The sky grew dark as the Son of God bore the sins of the world. Hope appeared crucified. The disciples scattered. Silence settled in on Saturday like a heavy fog. It seemed as though heaven itself had grown quiet.

Yet Psalm 30:5 reminds us that night has limits. Weeping may endure—but it does not reign. It may visit—but it does not move in permanently. The cross was real suffering. The tomb was a real grave. But neither could prevent resurrection morning.

When the stone was rolled away and the tomb stood empty, God declared to all creation that sorrow is temporary in His sovereign plan. The resurrection proves that pain has an expiration date. In Christ, endings become beginnings. Death becomes life. Despair becomes hope.

If you are walking through a long night—whether of grief, discouragement, illness, or uncertainty—remember this: the same God who brought light out of the darkest day in history is still at work. Joy is not hypothetical. It is promised.

Reflection Questions:
Where in your life does it feel like night right now?
How does the resurrection assure you that your sorrow is not permanent?

Prayer:
Lord, when darkness surrounds me, remind me that You are the God of resurrection mornings. Help me trust that joy is coming.
