God Rewrites the Story
Scripture: Genesis 50:20
"But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good..." (Genesis 50:20)
Joseph's life seemed like a collection of broken chapters. He was betrayed by his brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, forgotten in prison, and separated from his family for years. If anyone had a reason to become bitter, it was Joseph. Yet when he finally stood before the very brothers who had wronged him, he did not focus on their cruelty. Instead, he focused on God's sovereignty.
Joseph understood something many believers struggle to grasp: God is able to take what was intended for harm and transform it into something good. The enemies of Joseph saw only a pit. God saw a palace. His brothers saw rejection. God saw preparation. Potiphar's wife saw an opportunity to destroy him. God saw an opportunity to position him for greater influence.
Life often presents circumstances that don't make sense. We face disappointments, betrayals, failures, and setbacks. In those moments, we are tempted to believe the story is over. Yet God is still writing. What appears to be the end of a chapter may simply be the beginning of a greater purpose.
The enemy wants us to dwell on what happened to us. God wants us to focus on what He is doing through us. Every trial becomes a testimony when surrendered to Him. Every scar becomes evidence of His grace.
Perhaps someone has wounded you deeply. Maybe you're carrying pain from something that happened years ago. Remember Joseph's example. Don't allow bitterness to write the final chapter of your story. God is still working behind the scenes.
Today, choose to trust the Author. He specializes in redemption. He can rewrite what others tried to ruin and use it for His glory.
Reflection Questions:
Is there a painful chapter in your life that you need to surrender to God?
How can you trust God's purpose even when you don't understand His process?
Prayer:
Lord, help me trust You with every chapter of my life. Give me faith to believe that You are working all things together for good. Remove bitterness from my heart and help me see Your hand even in difficult circumstances. In Jesus' name, Amen.
