More Than Conquerors Because He Lives
Scripture: Romans 8:37
“Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
Easter is the declaration of ultimate victory. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is not just proof that He lives—it is proof that we can live in victory too. Romans 8:37 reminds us that because of His love and His triumph over the grave, we are not merely survivors—we are “more than conquerors.”
Paul writes, “in all these things…”—referring to trials, troubles, persecution, and hardship. Easter does not mean we are exempt from struggles, but it does mean we are empowered through them. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead now works in us, giving us strength to overcome whatever we face.
First, Easter reveals a purchased victory. Our conquering status is “through him that loved us.” Jesus secured our victory at the cross and confirmed it at the empty tomb. When He rose, He defeated sin, death, and the grave. That means the greatest enemies we face have already been conquered.
Second, Easter provides a present victory. Notice Paul says, “we are more than conquerors”—not “we will be,” but “we are.” This is a current reality. Because Christ is alive, victory is not just a future promise; it is a present possession. We don’t fight for victory—we fight from victory.
Third, Easter produces a prevailing victory. To be “more than conquerors” means overwhelming victory—beyond winning, beyond surviving. It means that even what was meant to defeat us becomes something God uses to develop us. Trials don’t destroy us; they deepen us. Struggles don’t stop us; they strengthen us.
The empty tomb is Heaven’s announcement that nothing can ultimately defeat the child of God. Death could not hold Jesus, and because we are in Him, it cannot hold us either. Fear, failure, and even the grave itself have lost their final say.
Because He lives, we live in victory—not occasionally, but continually. Not barely, but abundantly. Not as victims, but as victors.
Reflection Questions:
What struggle are you facing that you need to view through the lens of resurrection victory?
Do you tend to live like a conqueror or like someone defeated? Why?
How does the truth of “we are more than conquerors” change your perspective today?
Prayer:
Risen Savior, thank You that Your victory is my victory. Because You conquered sin and death, I can live with confidence and courage. Help me to walk daily in the power of Your resurrection and to face every challenge as more than a conqueror through Your love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
