A Cry for a Clean Heart
Psalm 51:10–12
“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me…” (Psalm 51:10, KJV)
Devotion:
Renewal begins with honesty before God. David, broken over his sin, didn’t ask for a second chance—he asked for a new heart. True renewal is not behavior modification; it is spiritual transformation. God does not patch up the old—He creates something new.
When we feel distant, dry, or defeated, the answer is not trying harder but surrendering deeper. A clean heart is God’s work, not ours. The same God who forgave David can restore your joy and renew your spirit.
Reflection Questions:
Have I truly asked God to create a clean heart, or just improve my behavior?
What is stealing my joy of salvation right now?
Prayer:
Lord, create in me a clean heart. Wash away what is unworthy and renew a right spirit within me. Restore the joy of Thy salvation and uphold me with Thy free Spirit. Amen.
