Growing Until He Comes
Scripture:
2 Peter 3:15-18
15 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. 17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. 18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
Devotional:
Peter closes his letter with a simple but profound command: "Grow."
The Christian life is not about arriving; it is about growing. No matter how long we have followed Christ, there is always room for deeper faith, greater wisdom, and stronger devotion.
Spiritual growth protects us from deception, strengthens us during trials, and prepares us for service. It keeps us from becoming stagnant or complacent.
Growth occurs when we remain connected to Christ through prayer, Scripture, worship, and obedience. Day by day, God shapes us into the image of His Son.
As we grow in grace, we become more dependent upon God's mercy. As we grow in knowledge, we gain a clearer understanding of who Christ is.
One day our growth journey will be complete when we see Him face to face. Until then, Peter's challenge remains: Keep growing.
Reflection:
What practical step can you take this week to continue growing spiritually?
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, help me grow in Your grace and knowledge every day. Keep me faithful until the day I see You face to face. Amen.
