Don't Let Feelings Make Your Decisions

Scripture: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” — Proverbs 3:5

Feelings are real, but they aren't always reliable guides.

“I feel like buying it.”
“I feel like eating it.”
“I feel like telling them exactly what I think.”
“I don't feel like praying.”
“I don't feel like forgiving.”

If feelings become the primary authority in our lives, our direction will constantly change.

Following Christ requires something stronger than feelings: conviction.

There will be mornings when you don't feel like doing what is right. There will be moments when obedience feels inconvenient. There will be times when forgiveness feels impossible and self-control feels restrictive.

That doesn't make obedience wrong.

Jesus modeled this beautifully in Gethsemane. Facing the cross, He prayed, “Nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done” (Luke 22:42).

Spiritual maturity doesn't mean you stop having emotions. It means your emotions no longer have the final vote.

God does.

Life Application: When your feelings pull you in one direction and God's Word points you in another, choose to trust God's direction.
