YOUR WORK CAN BECOME WORSHIP

Scripture:
“And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.”
— Colossians 3:23

Most of us naturally separate our lives into categories.

There is church.
There is family.
There is work.
There are hobbies.

And then there is everything else.

The danger is that we can begin believing some parts of our lives are “spiritual” while others are simply ordinary.

We worship God at church, but we work for our employer on Monday.

Scripture challenges that thinking.

Paul says,
“Whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord.”

Notice the word whatsoever.

That means the ordinary things matter.

Answering an email can matter.
Repairing equipment can matter.
Teaching a class can matter.
Serving a customer can matter.
Completing paperwork can matter.
Cleaning a room can matter.
Attending another meeting can matter.

The activity may seem ordinary, but the One for whom you ultimately do it changes its significance.

Your job doesn't have to be ministry for your work to become worship.

When you perform your responsibilities with integrity because you belong to Christ, that honors God.

When you treat people with dignity because they are created in God's image, that honors God.

When you give your best even when nobody is watching, that honors God.

When you refuse to participate in gossip, dishonesty, laziness, or bitterness, that honors God.

Suddenly, Monday isn't merely about going back to work.

It becomes another opportunity to worship.

This doesn't mean every assignment will suddenly become exciting. Some jobs are difficult. Some responsibilities are repetitive. Some workplaces are frustrating.

But your motivation can become greater than your circumstances.

You may work for a company, organization, customer, or supervisor, but as a follower of Christ, you can choose to work unto the Lord.

That changes the question.

Instead of asking, Do they deserve my best?

We begin asking, Does God deserve my best?

And the answer changes everything.

LIFE APPLICATION TAKE-AWAY
Your workplace can become a place of worship when you intentionally do ordinary things for the glory of God.

Choose one routine task you normally dislike this week and consciously say:
“Lord, I'm going to do this well today as an act of worship to You.”
