MONDAY IS NOT THE ENEMY

MONDAY IS NOT THE ENEMY

Scripture:
“This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”
— Psalm 118:24

There is something interesting about Monday. Nothing actually changes about the length of the day. Monday has the same twenty-four hours as Saturday. The sun rises just like it does every other morning. God is still faithful. His mercies are still new. His promises have not changed.

Yet our attitude toward Monday can be completely different.

We wake up thinking, Here we go again.

Another week. Another alarm. Another commute. Another inbox. Another meeting. Another list of responsibilities.

Without realizing it, we can begin treating five days of every week as obstacles standing between us and the weekend.

But Psalm 118:24 doesn't say, “This is the weekend the Lord has made.” It says,
“This is the day.”

That includes Monday.

Every day God places before us contains opportunities that will never exist in exactly the same way again. There will be people you encounter today that you may not see tomorrow. There will be conversations you can influence, needs you can meet, encouragement you can give, and decisions you can make that honor Christ.

The problem may not always be Monday.

Sometimes the problem is the perspective we carry into Monday.

If we begin the week believing our only objective is to survive until Friday, we may overlook what God wants to accomplish through us between Monday and Friday.

Your workplace isn't simply where you earn a paycheck. It can also become a place where you demonstrate patience, integrity, compassion, excellence, forgiveness, generosity, and the love of Christ.

That difficult coworker may be someone God has placed within your sphere of influence.

That frustrating assignment may be an opportunity to develop perseverance.

That ordinary responsibility may become an opportunity to demonstrate extraordinary faithfulness.

Monday doesn't have to be the enemy.

It can become an opportunity.

Instead of waking up tomorrow thinking, I have to go to work, try changing one word:
I get to go to work.
I get another day.
I get another opportunity.
I get another chance to represent Christ.

When your perspective changes, Monday may begin to look very different.

LIFE APPLICATION TAKE-AWAY
Don't spend Monday wishing it were Friday. Ask God, “What do You want to accomplish through me today?”

Before beginning your workday, pray:
“Lord, this is the day You have given me. Help me recognize the opportunities You have placed inside it.”
