When Life Doesn't Make Sense

WHEN LIFE DOESN'T MAKE SENSE
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

One of the hardest things about pain is not knowing why.

Why did this happen?
Why didn't God stop it?
Why hasn't the situation changed?
Why am I still struggling?

We naturally want explanations. We think that if we could understand what God is doing, perhaps it would make the pain easier to endure.
But God doesn't always give us an explanation. Sometimes He simply asks us to trust Him.

Proverbs tells us not to lean on our own understanding. That doesn't mean we shouldn't think, ask questions, or seek wisdom. It means our understanding isn't strong enough to carry the weight of our faith.

We see the moment. God sees the whole story.

We see what hurts today. God sees what He is developing for tomorrow.

Joseph certainly didn't understand why he was thrown into a pit, sold into slavery, falsely accused, and forgotten in prison. Yet years later, he could look back and recognize that God had been working through circumstances that once seemed meaningless.

You may not understand what God is doing in your life today. That's okay. Faith doesn't require having all the answers.

Faith says, “God, I don't understand this chapter, but I trust the One writing the story.”

LIFE APPLICATION TAKE-AWAY
Don't allow what you don't understand about your circumstances to make you doubt what you already know about your God. Trust Him even when life doesn't make sense.
