DON'T LET PAIN CONTROL YOUR PERSPECTIVE

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 4:17–18
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen.”

Pain has a way of changing how we see everything.

When we're hurting, one difficult situation can suddenly make the entire future look hopeless. Anxiety tells us tomorrow will be worse. Frustration convinces us nothing will ever change.

That's the danger of allowing our pain to determine our perspective.

Paul knew suffering. He experienced beatings, imprisonment, rejection, opposition, hunger, and hardship. Yet he refused to evaluate his life only by what he could see in the moment.

Instead, Paul looked through the temporary toward the eternal.

Notice that he didn't say suffering wasn't painful. He said suffering wasn't permanent.

Whatever you're facing today is not the entirety of your story.

There is more happening than you can see.

God may be developing endurance.

He may be teaching dependence.

He may be redirecting your priorities.

He may be preparing you for an opportunity you cannot yet imagine.

Pain says, “Look at what's happening to me.”

Faith asks, “God, what are You doing in me?”

That change in perspective can transform how we walk through difficult seasons.

Don't judge your entire story by one painful chapter. Ask God to help you see your circumstances through the perspective of faith rather than the perspective of pain.
