WHAT GOD DEVELOPS IN THE DIFFICULTY

WHAT GOD DEVELOPS IN THE DIFFICULTY

Scripture: James 1:2–4
“My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.”

Nobody enjoys trials.

We don't wake up in the morning and pray, “Lord, please make today extremely difficult.”

Yet James tells believers to count trials as joy. Why?

Not because the trial itself is enjoyable, but because of what God can produce through it.

Trials reveal things about us that comfort never will.

We discover whether our faith depends upon our circumstances.

We discover where we're placing our security.

We discover how deeply we trust God's promises.

And through the process, God develops perseverance.

Think about how muscles become stronger. Resistance is required. Without resistance, there is little growth.

Our faith often develops the same way.

The struggle you're facing may be creating spiritual strength you couldn't develop any other way.

You may be praying, “God, get me out of this.”

Sometimes God's answer is, “I'm going to strengthen you while you're in it.”

The goal isn't merely getting through the trial. It's allowing God to change us through the trial.

One day you may realize that the season you desperately wanted God to remove became the season He used to develop something within you that you desperately needed.

LIFE APPLICATION TAKE-AWAY
Instead of only asking God to change your circumstances, ask Him what He wants to develop in you through them. Your difficulty may be producing a stronger faith.
