The Power of His Resurrection

Scripture:
“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection.” — Philippians 3:10 (KJV)

When the Apostle Paul wrote these words, he was not speaking merely about knowing about Christ. He desired to know Him personally and experientially. Paul longed to experience the same divine power that raised Jesus Christ from the grave. The resurrection of Jesus is not simply a historical event to celebrate once a year; it is a present reality that transforms the believer’s daily life.

The resurrection proved that Christ has power over sin, death, and the grave. When God raised Jesus from the dead, He demonstrated that nothing is stronger than His power. The amazing truth of the gospel is that this very same power is now available to those who belong to Christ. Paul emphasized this in Ephesians 1:19–20 when he wrote that the “exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe” is the same power God used when He raised Christ from the dead.

This means that resurrection power is not reserved for heaven alone—it is active in the life of every believer today.

First, resurrection power gives victory over sin. Before salvation, sin had dominion over us. But through Christ’s resurrection, believers are given new life and the ability to walk in righteousness. Romans 6:4 reminds us that just as Christ was raised from the dead, we too should “walk in newness of life.” The power of the resurrection enables us to live differently, think differently, and pursue holiness.

Second, resurrection power gives strength in weakness. Life often brings burdens, trials, and moments when we feel spiritually exhausted. Yet the power that raised Christ is sufficient to sustain us. When we feel overwhelmed, discouraged, or weary, God’s power renews our strength. What we cannot accomplish in our own ability, Christ accomplishes through His resurrection power working within us.

Third, resurrection power gives hope in difficulty. The resurrection reminds us that God specializes in bringing life out of what appears to be dead. Situations that seem hopeless are never beyond His power. Just as the sealed tomb could not hold Jesus, the challenges we face cannot defeat the purposes of God in our lives. Resurrection power reminds us that God is still working, even when circumstances appear impossible.
Paul’s desire “that I may know him” also teaches us that resurrection power is experienced through a deep relationship with Christ. The closer we walk with Him—through prayer, Scripture, and obedience—the more we experience the transforming power of His life within us.

Today, many believers know the story of the resurrection, but fewer truly live in the power of it. Resurrection power is not just theology to believe—it is strength to experience, victory to walk in, and hope to hold onto.

Because Christ lives, we can live victoriously.

Reflection Questions
Are you living daily in the power Christ provides, or relying on your own strength?
In what area of your life do you most need the resurrection power of Christ today?
How can you deepen your relationship with Christ so His power is more evident in your life?

Prayer
Lord, thank You for the power of the resurrection. Help me not only to believe in it, but to live in it every day. Strengthen me where I am weak, give me victory where I struggle, and fill my life with the power of Your risen life. May I know You more deeply and walk in the new life You have given. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
