The Miracle May Begin With What You Already Have

Scripture:
"And Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house?" — 2 Kings 4:2

The widow in 2 Kings 4 was desperate.

Her husband had died. She was in debt, and the creditor was coming to take her sons.

When she cried to Elisha, he asked an interesting question:
"What hast thou in the house?"

Her response was essentially, "Almost nothing."

She had only a pot of oil.

Yet what appeared insignificant became the starting point for God's miraculous provision.

Elisha instructed her to borrow empty vessels from her neighbors. Then she began pouring. God multiplied the oil until every available vessel was full. She sold the oil, paid her debt, and had enough remaining for her family to live on.

Notice that God didn't begin with what she lacked.

He began with what she had.

We often focus so heavily on what we don't have that we overlook what God has already placed in our hands.
"I don't have enough money."
"I don't have enough ability."
"I don't have enough influence."
"I don't have enough resources."

But the question isn't merely, "What do you need?"
Sometimes the question is, "What has God already given you?"

A little becomes much when surrendered to God.

This passage does not promise that God will miraculously multiply everything we possess. It teaches something greater: God is our provider, and His resources are not limited by ours.

Don't despise what seems small.

Place what you have into God's hands and faithfully obey what He tells you to do.
