The Lord’s Day — A Day Set Apart
Scripture:
"I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day..." — Revelation 1:10

Sunday can easily become just another day.
There are errands to run, projects to finish, ballgames to attend, meals to prepare, and countless things competing for our attention. But for the believer, Sunday should be more than simply the last day of the weekend. It is the Lord’s Day—a day to intentionally turn our hearts toward the risen Christ.

The early believers gathered on the first day of the week because something happened that changed everything: Jesus rose from the grave.

"Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week..." — Mark 16:9

Every Sunday is a reminder that the tomb is empty, Jesus is alive, and our hope is secure.
Hebrews 10:25 reminds us not to forsake "the assembling of ourselves together." Gathering with God's people isn't merely a religious obligation. We need worship. We need the Word. We need prayer. We need fellowship. We need one another.

The world spends six days filling our minds with its noise. Sunday gives us an opportunity to deliberately turn down that noise and refocus our hearts on God.

There may be Sundays when you're tired.
Go worship anyway.
There may be Sundays when you don't feel particularly spiritual.
Go worship anyway.
There may be Sundays when life has disappointed you, people have hurt you, and your heart feels heavy.
Especially then—go worship.

We don't gather because everything in our lives is perfect. We gather because the One we worship is worthy.
Don't allow convenience to slowly replace commitment. Don't let recreation consistently replace reverence. Don't let Sunday become so crowded with everything else that there is little room left for the One to whom the day belongs.

Make the Lord's Day different.
Gather with God's people. Open His Word. Worship with your family. Encourage another believer. Rest from the constant rush. Give thanks for the resurrection. Prepare your heart for the week ahead.
Sunday isn't simply the end of one week—it can spiritually prepare you for the beginning of another.
Before you fill your Sunday schedule, remember whose day it is.

Give the Lord His day—and give Him your heart.
