The Language of Love

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4–7

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.”

Devotion:

Love is the heartbeat of the Christian life. It is not a shallow emotion or passing feeling—it is the very nature of God expressed through us. Paul describes love (charity) not in what it says, but in what it does. Love is patient in provocation, kind in the face of criticism, and consistent in the midst of conflict.

True love doesn’t envy success, parade its own achievements, or demand its own way. It endures misunderstandings and forgives offenses. This is the love that Jesus showed on Calvary’s cross—the love that prayed, “Father, forgive them.” When we love like Christ, we reflect Heaven on earth.

In a world full of pride, selfishness, and division, this kind of love stands out like light in the darkness. It cannot be manufactured by willpower but must flow from the indwelling Holy Spirit. When love becomes our language, grace becomes our way of life.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, teach me to love as You love—to be patient when wronged, kind when overlooked, and forgiving when offended. Let Your love flow through me so that others may see Jesus in my actions and attitude. In Christ’s name, Amen.
