The Habit of Pouring Out the Heart

The Habit of Pouring Out the Heart
Scripture: “Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.” (Psalm 62:8)
Devotion: David invites us to develop the habit of holy honesty before God. To pour out one’s heart is to hold nothing back—joys, fears, doubts, and desires. Our cries do not weary God; He welcomes them. Habits of prayer are not only structured but also spontaneous, flowing from the reality of our circumstances.
Trust is exercised not just when life is smooth but “at all times.” The faithful heart learns to run to God first—whether rejoicing or weeping—because He alone is our refuge. Spiritual health thrives when we consistently pour our hearts into His capable hands.
Prayer:
O Lord, teach me to trust You at all times. Let me hold nothing back but pour out my whole heart before You. Remind me that You are my refuge and strength in every season. Amen.
