The God Who Feels

Scripture: John 11:35 – "Jesus wept."

One of the most profound verses in Scripture contains only two words: Jesus wept. Though brief, these words reveal the heart of our Savior. Jesus knew He would soon raise Lazarus from the dead, yet He still entered into the sorrow of Mary and Martha. Rather than standing at a distance, He stepped into their grief.
This reminds us that God is never detached from our pain. He doesn't merely observe our struggles; He walks with us through them. Sometimes we believe that showing emotion is a sign of weak faith. Jesus teaches the opposite. Tears can coexist with perfect trust in the Father.

Because Christ experienced sorrow, we know He understands ours. Hebrews reminds us that we have a High Priest who sympathizes with our weaknesses. Whatever burden you carry today, Jesus is neither surprised nor uncomfortable with your emotions. He invites you to bring them honestly before Him.
Faith does not require pretending everything is fine. Faith means bringing every feeling into God's presence and trusting Him to meet us there.

Prayer
Lord, thank You for being a Savior who understands my heart. Help me bring every emotion honestly before You instead of hiding what I feel. Teach me to trust You in every season. Amen.

Reflection Question

How would your relationship with God change if you believed He truly understands every emotion you experience?
