The Faith That Walks With God
Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:1–6; Genesis 5:21–24
Key Verse: “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6
The Bible doesn’t say that without faith it’s difficult to please God. It says it’s impossible. Faith isn’t an optional extra in the Christian life. Everything else rests on it.
Look at Enoch. Scripture tells us very little about him, but it tells us what matters most: “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God” (Hebrews 11:5). Genesis puts it simply: “And Enoch walked with God” (Genesis 5:24). His faith wasn’t a single dramatic moment. It was a daily walk with God, one step at a time, over many years.
Hebrews 11:6 shows that faith has two parts. First, we believe that He is: God is real, present, and active. Second, we believe that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him: God is good, and seeking Him is never wasted. Faith that pleases God doesn’t just agree with a set of beliefs. It keeps seeking Him diligently because it’s convinced He’s worth it.
Reflect: Do you really believe God rewards those who seek Him? How does your daily routine show that belief?
Life Application: Set aside a specific time today to “diligently seek” God. Give at least 15 minutes to prayer and Bible reading with no distractions. Treat it as an appointment with the One who rewards those who come to Him.
Prayer: Lord, I believe that You are, and that You reward those who seek You. Help me walk with You every day the way Enoch did. Increase my faith so my life will carry the testimony that I pleased You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
