LET FAITH LEAD WHAT YOU FEEL

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6 (KJV)

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths."

Have you ever made a decision based entirely on how you felt, only to regret it later?

Maybe you reacted too quickly because you were angry. Perhaps you gave up on something because you felt discouraged. Maybe fear convinced you not to take a step of faith, or excitement caused you to move forward without seeking God's direction.

Our feelings can be powerful.

And if we're not careful, they can become the driving force behind our decisions.

But here's something we must understand: Just because a feeling is strong doesn't mean it's right.

Proverbs 3 reminds us not to lean entirely on our own understanding. Instead, we're called to trust the Lord with all our hearts and acknowledge Him in everything we do.

That includes what we feel.

Throughout this series, we've explored how God created us with the capacity to experience joy, sadness, anger, and compassion.

We've discovered that feelings aren't automatically sinful or harmful. They can reveal important things about our hearts, alert us to needs, and create opportunities for spiritual growth.

But feelings were never intended to replace faith.

Consider Peter walking on the water in Matthew 14.

As long as his attention remained on Jesus, he walked toward Him. But when Peter focused on the wind and waves, fear overwhelmed him, and he began to sink.

The storm was real. The danger appeared real. Peter's fear was understandable.

But his feelings became more influential than his confidence in the One who had called him.

How often do we do the same thing?

We allow fear to speak louder than God's promises. We allow disappointment to convince us that God has forgotten us. We allow anger to justify our behavior or sadness to make us question His goodness.

Yet God's truth doesn't change when our feelings do.

That's why spiritual maturity requires learning to examine what we feel through the lens of Scripture.

When you're afraid, remember God's presence. When you're angry, remember His call to self-control. When you're hurting, remember His comfort. When you're joyful, remember to give Him praise. And when you're moved with compassion, remember to demonstrate His love.

Faith doesn't mean ignoring your feelings.

It means refusing to allow them to have the final authority over your life.

You may not always be able to change how you feel in a particular moment, but you can choose where you place your trust.

And when your heart is uncertain, God's Word remains a dependable guide.

As we conclude this series, remember that God isn't asking you to become someone who never feels deeply.

He's inviting you to become someone who feels deeply, trusts completely, and follows faithfully.

Life Application: Your feelings are real, but God's truth is greater. Learn to acknowledge what you feel without allowing it to determine what you believe or how you obey.

Prayer: Lord, thank You for reminding me that You understand everything I experience. Help me surrender my joy, sadness, anger, fear, and compassion to You. When my feelings are overwhelming, anchor my heart in Your Word. Give me the wisdom to recognize what is true, the strength to respond faithfully, and the courage to trust You even when I don't understand. In Jesus' name, Amen.
