THE CALL TO COMPASSION!

Scripture: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” —
Ephesians 4:32

God calls His people to live out His character by showing kindness and compassion to others. Compassion is not just a feeling—it is a choice. It requires us to see beyond ourselves and recognize the needs, hurts, and struggles of others. The tenderheartedness mentioned in this verse reflects a heart softened by God’s grace, one that mirrors His forgiveness and mercy.

Caring for others begins with the recognition that we, too, have been recipients of God’s compassion. Since Christ forgave us of our sins, we should willingly extend forgiveness and grace to those who may have wronged us. Compassion flows out of gratitude—what we have freely received, we freely give.

If we are to reflect Christ to the world, our lives must be marked not by bitterness or selfishness but by kindness and tender mercy. The world desperately needs to see living testimonies of God’s love. When we put compassion into action, we show the reality of Christ dwelling in us.

Prayer:

Lord, soften my heart toward others. Teach me to be kind, forgiving, and tenderhearted as You are toward me. Help me live each day reflecting Your compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
