The Reward of Faithfulness!
Scripture:
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.” – 2 Peter 3:13
Devotional Thought:
Faithfulness is not without reward. Peter closes his letter with the hope of eternity—a promise of new heavens and a new earth. For the faithful, this world is not the end. Trials, temptations, and struggles will one day cease. A glorious eternity of righteousness awaits.
The reward of faithfulness is not earthly recognition but eternal joy. The believer who endures to the end will hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” This hope strengthens us to stay faithful in a fading world.
Life Applications:
- Keep eternity in mind when facing trials; your faithfulness has an eternal reward.
- Set your hope not on this world but on Christ’s coming kingdom.
- Encourage others by reminding them of the eternal promise for the faithful.
Reflection Questions:
- How does the promise of eternity shape the way I live today?
- Am I living for earthly gain or eternal reward?
Faithfulness today prepares you for reward in eternity.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the hope of heaven. Keep me faithful until the day I see You face to face. May my life reflect eternal values, and may I endure in faith with joy until I dwell in Your righteousness forever. Amen.
