God Meant It for Good
Text: Genesis 50:20
“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”
Stress often grows out of confusion—when life doesn’t make sense, when people disappoint us, or when circumstances seem unfair. Joseph’s life was filled with betrayal, false accusations, and delay. Yet instead of living in bitterness, he chose to rest in God’s sovereignty. He saw something deeper: what looked like chaos was actually divine coordination.
God did not say the situation was good—but that He would bring good out of it. That truth alone can reduce stress. You don’t have to figure everything out. You don’t have to defend yourself in every situation. God is working, even when others are working against you.
When we hold onto stress, we are often trying to control outcomes or rewrite the past. But peace comes when we release control and trust God’s purpose. Your pain is not pointless. Your struggle is not wasted. God is weaving it into something meaningful.
Reflection Questions:
What situation in your life feels negative but could God be working for good?
Are you holding onto hurt that is increasing your stress instead of releasing it to God?
Prayer:
Lord, help me trust that You are working all things for good, even when I don’t understand. Take the stress that comes from confusion and replace it with confidence in Your plan. Amen.
