Living with Eternal Perspective
Scripture: 2 Peter 3:8-10
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Devotional:
Peter addresses a question many people still ask today: "Why hasn't Christ returned yet?"
God's timing is different from ours. What feels like delay to us is actually an expression of His patience. He desires people to come to repentance.
Yet Peter also reminds us that the Day of the Lord will come unexpectedly. The certainty of Christ's return should influence how we live today.
When we lose sight of eternity, we become consumed with temporary concerns. But when we remember that Christ is coming again, our priorities begin to change.
We become more intentional about sharing the gospel. We invest more deeply in what truly matters. We live with anticipation rather than complacency.
Reflection:
How would your priorities change if you lived each day expecting Christ's return?
Prayer:
Lord, help me live with eternity in view. May my choices reflect my hope in Your coming kingdom. Amen.
