Knowing About Jesus Is Not the Same as Knowing Jesus

Scripture: Matthew 7:21 — “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven.”

It is possible to know many things about Jesus without truly knowing Jesus.

We can know Bible stories. We can understand Christian terminology. We can sing worship songs and listen to sermons. We can even become comfortable in church culture.

But information about Christ cannot replace a relationship with Christ.

Jesus gave one of His strongest warnings when He explained that simply calling Him “Lord” was not enough. Genuine faith produces a life that increasingly desires the will of God.

This does not mean we earn salvation through good behavior. Salvation is by grace through faith. But genuine faith changes us.

When we truly know Jesus, His presence begins affecting our attitudes, relationships, priorities, words, and choices.

The question is not merely, “Do I know about Jesus?”

The deeper question is, “Do I know Him?”

Think About It: Is your relationship with Jesus personal and active, or has Christianity become mostly information, tradition, and routine?

Prayer: Jesus, I don't want merely to know facts about You. I want to know You personally. Draw me closer and make my relationship with You real and growing. Amen.
