Victory Over Fear

Scripture: “Be not afraid.” — Matthew 28:5

Fear has a way of gripping the heart, clouding the mind, and paralyzing the will. It whispers lies about the future, magnifies problems, and minimizes God. Yet on resurrection morning, heaven declared a different message: “Be not afraid.” These words were not spoken in a calm moment, but at an empty tomb—a place where confusion, grief, and uncertainty once stood.

The angel’s command was not a suggestion, but a divine invitation to exchange fear for faith. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the ultimate proof that God has power over every enemy we face. If death itself could not hold Him, then fear has no rightful hold on us. The empty tomb stands as a reminder that what seems final is not fatal when God is involved.

Fear faded when faith saw the risen Christ. The women came trembling, expecting death, but left rejoicing, having encountered life. That same resurrection power now speaks into our fears—whether they are fears of tomorrow, failure, loss, or the unknown. Faith does not deny the presence of fear; it overcomes it by fixing its gaze on a risen Savior.

When you remember that Jesus is alive, your perspective changes. Fear says, “What if?” Faith says, “Even if.” Fear focuses on the problem; faith focuses on the Person. Fear looks at the grave; faith looks at the risen King.

Because He lives, you can face whatever comes with courage. Because He conquered the grave, you can stand firm in confidence. Because He rose again, fear does not get the final word—Jesus does.

Reflection Questions:
What fears must you surrender to the risen Christ today?
How does the reality of the resurrection strengthen your courage in facing life’s uncertainties?

Prayer:
Lord, in moments when fear tries to take hold of my heart, remind me of the empty tomb. Help me to trust in Your power, rest in Your promises, and walk in resurrection confidence. Replace my fear with unwavering faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
