Watchfulness Requires Wisdom
Romans 16:17 – "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them."
Not everyone who speaks about God is leading people toward God. Paul gives a strong warning to believers: be discerning. We are called to love others, but we are also called to guard the truth.
Division often begins when biblical doctrine is replaced with personal opinions, worldly philosophies, or self-serving agendas. A healthy church is built on the foundation of God's Word, not on personalities, preferences, or popularity.
This verse is not a call to be suspicious of everyone; it is a call to be spiritually alert. When teaching, attitudes, or influences consistently pull people away from the truth of Scripture, believers must recognize the danger and refuse to follow it.
The unity God desires is not unity at any cost—it is unity rooted in truth. Real peace comes when Christ is honored, His Word is obeyed, and sound doctrine is protected.
Today, ask yourself:
Am I grounded in God's Word?
Am I testing what I hear against Scripture?
Am I helping build unity around truth rather than division around opinions?
Stay faithful. Stay discerning. Stay anchored in the truth.
