Judas didn’t betray Jesus with a sword… he betrayed Him with a kiss.
“And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail, master; and kissed him.” — Matthew 26:49 (KJV)

The painful reality is that betrayal often comes from those closest to us. Judas walked with Jesus, heard His teaching, witnessed His miracles, and still chose hypocrisy over loyalty. His outward affection hid an inward rebellion.

Sadly, the same spirit still exists today. People can smile in your face while secretly working against you. They can speak words of support publicly but sow discord privately. Not everyone who says “Lord, Lord” truly belongs to Him.

But Jesus was not caught off guard by Judas, and God is not surprised by the betrayals we face either. Sometimes God allows betrayal to reveal hearts, refine His people, and move His purpose forward. Judas’ kiss was painful, but it could not stop the plan of God.

Be careful who you trust, but do not let betrayal harden your heart. Stay faithful, stay discerning, and keep your eyes on Christ.
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” — Proverbs 27:6 (KJV)
