The Test of Trust!
Scripture: Deuteronomy 8:2–3 — "And thou shalt remember all the way which the Lord thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna… that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live."
Devotion: Moses articulated that God tested Israel "to know what was in thine heart." It is essential to understand that stress does not create weakness; instead, it reveals what already exists within us. Trials serve as spiritual X-rays, illuminating whether we place our trust in God's Word or rely on our own limited wisdom.
When stress descends upon you, what is the first thing that spills out of your heart? Is it complaint or confidence? Fear or faith? Israel often failed this test; they chose to murmur rather than meditate on God's promises. However, you have the power to make a different choice when faced with similar circumstances.
During times of heightened pressure, let your trust in God grow even stronger. Each stressful moment is not merely a test, but also an opportunity for growth with God as your teacher. He is not testing you to see you fail; instead, He is forming you into the person He created you to be.
Prayer: "Lord, when my heart is tested, help me to trust You completely. Strengthen my faith when stress tries to shake it."
