DAY 10 — The Sign of the Manger
Scripture:
“Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” — Luke 2:12 (KJV)
Of all the places for the Savior to rest, God chose a manger—a feeding trough. The King of kings entered the world not in glittering splendor but in humble simplicity. The manger serves as a powerful reminder that God’s ways are often counter to our expectations, and His glory is frequently revealed in the most unexpected places.
The choice of a manger teaches us that Christ came not to be distant but to be accessible. There were no palace guards or golden gates—only open access for shepherds, commoners, and all who earnestly seek Him. This openness invites us to approach Christ with humility and sincerity.
Christmas calls us to approach Christ just as the shepherds did—with humility, wonder, and urgency. This approach encourages us to seek Him wholeheartedly and to recognize the profound significance of His arrival in our lives.
Application Questions
1. What does the humility of the manger teach you about God’s heart?
2. How can you seek Christ more simply and sincerely?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for coming in humility. Help me approach You with a humble and open heart. Amen.
