DAY 11 — Shepherds: First to Hear
Scripture:
“And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe…” — Luke 2:16 (KJV)
Shepherds, often considered lowly and overlooked, were chosen by God to be the first witnesses of Christ’s birth. Heaven bypassed majestic palaces and religious halls to proclaim the gospel to simple workers in the fields. This choice underscores the truth that God delights in revealing Himself to the humble and the willing.
The shepherds responded with haste—they did not wait, debate, or delay. When God spoke, they moved without hesitation. Their urgency challenges us to reflect on our own often slow or hesitant responses to God’s leading in our lives. Are we ready to respond promptly when He calls?
God delights in revealing Himself to those who are humble, hungry, and willing to listen. Let their example inspire us to cultivate a heart that seeks after God and is eager to follow His prompting.
Application Questions
1. How quickly do you respond when God prompts you?
2. What step of obedience is God inviting you to take “with haste”?
Prayer
Lord, give me a shepherd’s heart—ready, willing, and quick to follow Your voice. Amen.
