The Reward of Compassion

Scripture: “And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” — Matthew 25:40

Jesus teaches that every act of compassion shown to others is ultimately an act done unto Him. When we feed the hungry, clothe the poor, or visit the lonely, we are ministering directly to Christ Himself. This truth elevates even the smallest act of kindness to eternal significance.

Compassion may not always be recognized or rewarded by people, but God sees it all. On the day of judgment, He will honor those who have lived lives of care and compassion. The reward is not merely in heaven; even now, acts of love bring joy, unity, and the presence of Christ into our lives.

Caring for others is not optional—it is central to Christian discipleship. It is the mark of those who belong to Christ and the pathway to hearing Him say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of serving You by serving others. Remind me daily that every act of compassion is seen by You. Help me to live with eternity in view, showing love to the least of these. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
