Thankful In All Things
Daily Devotion by Pastor Shane - November 24, 2025

"In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." -1 Thessalonians 5:18
Devotional Thought
Thanksgiving is an attitude that transcends mere moments of joy and tranquility. The Apostle Paul reminds us that believers are called to express gratitude in every circumstance, not necessarily for every circumstance. Life is filled with challenges, disappointments, and uncertain seasons that can test our resolve. However, gratitude serves as a powerful expression of a heart that is firmly anchored in God's presence rather than in fluctuating circumstances. It becomes a testimony of faith that acknowledges God's sovereignty regardless of our situation.
Giving thanks in all situations signifies a deep trust that God is present in every season of our lives. It acknowledges that nothing we experience escapes His watchful eye or loving hands. This perspective allows gratitude to redirect our focus from external troubles to the internal workings of God's grace within us. When we embrace this attitude, we come to understand that God's will for our lives is not characterized by frustration, fear, or defeat; instead, it is a journey of faith, growth, and unshakeable joy.
Application
• Instead of asking the question "Why is this happening to me?" shift your inquiry to "Lord, what are You seeking to produce in me through this experience?"
• Take a moment today to create a list of three challenging aspects of your life. Next to each item, write down a reason you can still express gratitude.
• Voicing your gratitude aloud can be incredibly powerful. When you declare God's goodness with your own voice, it strengthens your faith and reinforces a spirit of thanksgiving within you.
Prayer
Father, I thank You for the command and the privilege of giving thanks in all circumstances. Even in moments when I struggle to understand, help me to trust Your divine plan and find rest in Your presence. Teach me to recognize and acknowledge Your goodness in every season of my life, and may my gratitude bring You glory. In Jesus' name, Amen.
