Materialism!
Daily Devotion by Pastor Shane - August 30, 2022
Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, said he would see how much he could possess. He soon found out that worldly things were a dead-end street. The Bible says in 1 Kings 10:23, "So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom." If you took all the wealth that every king ever had, it still was not as much as Solomon's.
Solomon owned many horses, chariots, gold, silver, palaces, etc. But there is a great lesson to learn from God's Word by what the man who had everything, King Solomon, writes. Ecclesiastes 5:10 says, "He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver, nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity."
Do you like drinking salt water? Trying to be satisfied with materialistic things in life is equivalent to drinking salt water. If you drink salt water, all it does is make you thirstier. Solomon teaches us that focusing on materialism is a dead end.
Do you realize that it is only God that can satisfy you? Materialism never satisfies. Jesus came to walk with us and die for us. Only He can truly satisfy us and give us the peace we need. Amen!
