Holding Fast to Truth
Scripture
“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.” — Proverbs 23:23 (KJV)
Devotion
Truth has become increasingly unpopular in today’s world. Many people believe truth is relative and that everyone should decide truth for themselves. Yet God’s truth never changes. In a hostile world filled with confusion and compromise, believers must treasure truth above everything else.
To “buy the truth” speaks of pursuing it with great value and commitment. Truth is worth seeking, studying, defending, and living. It requires sacrifice and discipline. Sadly, many people are willing to trade truth for acceptance, comfort, popularity, or convenience.
The enemy wants believers to loosen their grip on biblical conviction. But when truth is abandoned, spiritual confusion follows. God’s Word gives wisdom for every season of life and stability during uncertain times. The Christian who stands firmly on Scripture will remain steady even when the world around him shifts.
Truth is not something we reshape to fit culture. Truth is something that reshapes us to reflect Christ.
