His Presence in the Storm
Text: Matthew 14:27
“But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.”
The disciples were in the middle of a storm, tossed by waves and troubled in spirit. Then suddenly, Jesus came walking on the water. What they feared most became the very path Jesus used to reach them.
Sometimes God doesn’t calm the storm immediately—He comes to us in the middle of it. His presence is greater than the storm’s power.
Jesus didn’t first rebuke the wind—He first reassured their hearts: “It is I.” That’s the message we need in every storm. When you recognize His presence, fear begins to lose its grip.
Devotional Questions:
What storm are you currently experiencing?
Are you focused more on the storm or on the Savior?
Prayer:
Father, in the storms of life, help me to see You clearly. Remind me that Your presence is enough. Calm my heart, even when the waves are still raging. Amen.
