God Is For Us!
Devotion by Pastor Shane - August 15, 2025
Scripture Reading:
“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?” — Romans 8:31
Devotion:
This brief and powerful little verse is like a mountain peak in the middle of Romans 8. After describing the unshakable security we have in Christ, Paul concludes: If God be for us, who can be against us?
This is not a statement of wishful thinking—it’s a declaration of certainty. “If” in this context means “since.” Since God is for us, no opposition can ultimately prevail against us. This does not mean we will never face trouble, criticism, or attack. It means nothing, and no one can successfully overthrow God’s purpose in our lives.
The One who is for us is the Creator of the universe, King of kings, and Lord of lords. His steadfast love, supreme power, and irrevocable promises are for us. When fear tells us that we are against all odds, faith answers that He beneath the Almighty walks alongside us.
Or enemies can be forged, storms can rage, even trials may rise up against us-those trials can no longer stand in the face of the God who has our future in His hands. His very presence turns impossible acts into possible ones and the defeated into the victorious ones. If we move on with God on our side, we do so with the consciousness of honor, courage, and joy.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the assurance that You are for me. Help me to rest in Your power, trust in Your plan, and walk in Your strength. When opposition arises, remind me that nothing can stand against Your will for my life. Keep my heart anchored in this truth every day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
