Day 8 – Trusting God with the Year Ahead
Scripture:
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” (Proverbs 3:5–6)
A new year often brings with it a host of unanswered questions. Plans may feel fragile, and outcomes uncertain, leaving us feeling apprehensive. God does not promise us clarity for every step we take, but He does assure us of direction for those who are willing to trust Him completely. Trusting Him often begins where our understanding ends.
Leaning on your own understanding may seem natural, yet it can restrict your faith. God calls you to rest the weight of your life upon Him—not partially, but wholly. Trusting God does not relieve you of responsibility, but it does replace anxiety with confidence, allowing you to navigate life with a sense of peace and assurance.
As you surrender your plans and aspirations for this year to Him, believe that He will guide your steps. The God who directs your path sees beyond the horizon that you cannot yet perceive. Embrace this truth, knowing that He has your best interests at heart.
Thought Questions:
1. Where are you tempted to rely on your own understanding?
2. What would it look like to trust God more fully with this year?
