Pure in Heart!

David testified that if God examined him, he would be found pure.

The Bible teaches that he was a man after God's own heart. David always dealt with trials and tribulations, especially by Saul, who hunted him down. I can only imagine David's fear as he went through these trials.

We all go through trials in life, just like David did. We must learn, just as David did, that our trials are vital to staying humble and near the almighty God. Psalm 17 is a prayer from David. In this prayer, we see that David was praying unto God that he had a pure heart. Therefore, God tested David, and no unconfessed sin was found.

David had a pure heart patterned after God's Word. He held to God's paths and followed God's ways. In this prayer, we learn that David confessed his sins to the Lord and was forgiven.

The question for each of us today is, what sin are we not confessing to the Lord?

What is holding us back from having a pure heart like David's? Can you think of anyone today whom you hold a grudge against? Is there something you haven't laid down at the feet of Jesus? Friend, if you are hiding any sin in your life, it will hinder your prayers. If you confess the sin daily to the Lord, He will begin to work mightily in your life.

Amen!

Psalm 17:3-5 reads, "Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; Thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress. Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips, I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer. Hold up my goings in thy paths, That my footsteps slip not.
