Guarding Your Words
Scripture:
"Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up." — Ephesians 4:29
Words are powerful. They can encourage or discourage, heal or wound, build up or tear down.
Every conversation presents an opportunity to honor God. The habit of speaking wisely begins with small choices.
Choosing not to participate in gossip.
Choosing encouragement over criticism.
Choosing truth over exaggeration.
Choosing gentleness instead of harshness.
These decisions may seem minor, but they have lasting effects on relationships and testimonies.
James compares the tongue to a small rudder that directs a large ship. Though small, it influences the entire course of life.
Godly habits are often revealed through our speech. When Christ changes the heart, our words begin to reflect His character.
Reflection
Are your words consistently pointing others toward Christ?
Prayer
Father, help me use my words to encourage and strengthen others. Guard my tongue and fill my speech with grace. Amen.
