Freedom Worth Protecting
Scripture: "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free..." — Galatians 5:1
As Americans, we are thankful for the freedoms that generations have sacrificed to preserve. The freedoms to worship, speak, assemble, and live without tyranny are precious gifts that should never be taken for granted. Throughout history, countless men and women have courageously defended these liberties at great personal cost.
Yet even greater than political freedom is the spiritual freedom that Jesus Christ purchased through His death and resurrection. A nation may enjoy liberty while many of its citizens remain bound by sin, guilt, fear, and hopelessness. Christ came to break those chains and offer true freedom that no government can give or take away.
Our national freedom reminds us to cherish our spiritual freedom. As believers, we are called to use our liberty wisely—not for selfishness, but to glorify God, serve others, and boldly proclaim the Gospel. The greatest way to honor the blessings we enjoy is to live as faithful ambassadors for Christ.
Additional Scripture:
John 8:36 – "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
2 Corinthians 3:17 – "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for the freedoms we enjoy in our nation, but even more for the freedom You have given us through Jesus Christ. Help us never take either for granted. May we live courageously, honor You with our liberty, and faithfully share the hope of the Gospel with others. Amen.
