Be Still & Know!

Devotion:

We live in a world full of noise, deadlines, and constant movement, the words of Psalm 46:10 call us to stillness. “Be still” does not mean inactivity or passivity; it means ceasing from frantic striving and choosing to rest in God’s sovereign control.

The psalmist invites us to shift our focus from the chaos around us to the unchanging truth of who God is. To “know” that He is God is more than intellectual agreement—it is personal trust. It’s the knowing that brings peace to the anxious heart, confidence to the weary soul, and courage to the fearful spirit.

When we stop trying to manage life in our strength and instead acknowledge God’s power, we find security in His promises. He will be exalted—nothing can hinder His plan. The battles of the world and the burdens of our hearts do not shake His throne.

Stillness in His presence is not a waste of time—it’s where faith is strengthened, direction is clarified, and hearts are renewed. In quiet trust, we discover that God is not only in control—He is enough.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, In the busyness of life, help me to slow down and be still before You. Teach me to trust Your power and rest in Your presence. Calm my thoughts and remind me that You are God, exalted over all the earth. Let my stillness be filled with worship and my heart anchored in Your peace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
